The Chief Minister of Assam Sri Tarun Gogoi has finally given his consent to the petition of lakhs of people of Barak Valley for changing the name of Silchar Railway Station. He mentioned that he respected the sentiments of the people of Barak Valley and assured that the government would do its best for this. He said that he would give full support to the appeal to rename Silchar Railway Station to Bhasha Shahid Station. He is supposed to forward the petition to the central minister for railways Sri Lallu Prasad Yadav on 17th July, 2008.
