of the town. The Inter State Bus Terminus at Ramnagar was built to organize the traffic and

of the town. The Inter State Bus Terminus at Ramnagar was built to organize the traffic and
to bring all long route vehicles under one common terminus which theoretically sounds like a
big step forward. This ideally should felicitate the economy of this region and thereby
bring prosperity to the region. But in reality it has brought more problem and pain for both
the commuters ad the vehicle owners. It's true that it has brought down the traffic level
down to some extent in the tow and the road which are any way in pathetic condition have got
some relief. But now anybody who has to visit Guwahati or any other part of North East has
to take the pain of going to Ramnagar to board the bus. With the railway lines closed for
God knows how long and the fares of flights rising like anything, there is no other way left
for a passenger but to take the bus or Tata Sumo. With the bus fares also hiked, its became
very difficult for a common man to visit Guwahati and on top of that he has to fork out
another 70-80 bucks only to reach the bus terminus. Now obviously the question rises, why did
the authorities not ensure that there be cheap means of reaching IBST before constructing it so far away from the town. What is ridiculous is that even for people going to nearby towns viz. Hailakandi or Karimganj have to take the bus from Ramnagar. A serious thought has to be put in this issue. Discuss this topic in the forums.
