I've only tested with Google so far. Even though I only selected one email address to invite, and only 1 invite was sent, all of my gmail contact were imported. Does this not mean if I use the mass mailer it will sent to all addresses even though I only invited one?

Is this a bug or expected? Either way it means that I can not use this component unless I never mass email and never send a follow up message as I consider it a breach of my users privacy. IMHO JoomInvite should only import the contacts that the user selects.

This is done on purpose. So that the webadmin has a big enough mailing list. I never really thought about this issue. Do you really think it is against user privacy? If so I can remove the feature.

As a user, if I added one contact from my contact list, say a good friend thinking they may enjoy the site I found, and then discovered that the site ripped ALL addresses, including my grandmother, employer, bank, financial adviser etc., I would be pissed.

I agree with ckayfish. It shouldn't import everyone like that, the only emails that should get imported are the ones for which the user checked the box and invited. Definitely a privacy/spam issue if I were to mass mail everyone in someone's addressbook, myspace, etc.

I'm just checking to see what the status of this issue is? I was playing around with the component today and it should definitely be fixed. If you get a guy that has thousands of myspace friends, but only wants to tell say, 10 of them about your site,, then you end up with alllllllllll his friends in the listing in the backend. Definitely not a good thing. Please fix this for the next version :?:

Hello, is the Joominvite project dead? Please let me know as I will have to hire a programmer to fix this issue so I can use this component.

Sorry been very busy these days with personal work. Will start work on a Joomla 1.5 compatible version with all bug fixes and few more features like import from outlook express/thunderbird and manual email entry soon.

Has this been fixed yet? This is a really big problem to import all contacts even if the user only chooses a few. Please let me know how I can fix this. Thank you!
